Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimarães ‘accepts the offer from Newcastle United’, according to claims from Brazil.
Globo Esporte says that following the €40m agreement between the clubs, it was now the 24-year-old who said yes to the opportunity of signing for the Magpies.
The outlet claims there are still ‘bureaucratic details’ to be sorted, and then the player should sign a contract with Newcastle which will run until 2027.
It’s once again pointed out that the midfielder is currently in Ecuador, where Brazil are playing tomorrow night in the World Cup qualifiers. That’s just another point to be solved, as the transfer must be completed before Monday.
It was on Tuesday night that the very same Globo Esporte broke the news about Newcastle’s offer for Bruno Guimarães being accepted by Lyon.
At the time, besides explaining the French club had agreed to the move, they said the Magpies were waiting for an agreement with the player, with the expectation for a response ‘in the coming hours’.
Now it seems everything is nearly done for the move to be completed.
UOL, another major outlet in Brazil, state the player’s staff are preparing a farewell video.
Meanwhile, Lyon are now denying they’ve accepted the offer, but such statements aren’t entirely unusual from the French club.
