In the past 24 hours, we’ve seen two interesting claims from the Brazilian media regarding Barcelona and Manchester City.
The first one was about Lionel Messi’s wish to join the Premier League side, and the second was about the Catalan club’s interest in signing Gabriel Jesus.
Even though the Argentine star wants to leave Barça for free, it’s still not clear if he’ll be able to trigger the clause which would have allowed that. Messi’s argument is that with the season ending later, due to Covid-19, so should the clause, but his club strongly disagree.
So there’s a chance Manchester City would have to pay for the transfer.
According to journalist Jorge Nicola, the clubs could end up agreeing a swap between Lionel Messi and Gabriel Jesus.
He reports that people involved in this process have already suggested Gabriel Jesus could move to Barcelona for the transfer of Lionel Messi, with Manchester City paying an extra €80m.
It’s also claimed that Gabriel Jesus would fancy a move to the Camp Nou, since he’d leave Sergio Aguero’s shadow and finally have the chance to be a regular starter, as Luis Suárez is also thought to be leaving Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Catalunya Radio (via AS) report that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartolomeu wants to meet Lionel Messi today. The club want an agreement with the player so he won’t leave them for free.
