Following Liverpool’s announcement that Alisson has picked up an injury in training and shouldn’t feature against Bournemouth on Saturday, it seems he won’t be back very soon.

Brazil manager Tite announced his squad on Friday for the first round of World Cup qualifiers, which will be played in the last week of March, and the goalkeeper hasn’t been included.

Alisson has been Brazil’s number one goalkeeper for a couple of years now, despite the heavy competition he has from Manchester City star Ederson.

Asked about the Liverpool player’s absence from the squad during the press conference today, Tite said: “He has a physical problem.”

Brazil are playing Bolivia on March 27th and then Peru on the 31st.

Before the international break, Liverpool first face Bournemouth in the Premier League, then Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, then Everton and Crystal Palace once again domestically.

His absence from the national squad suggests he’s not expected to be fully fit by the time he’d be set to travel back to Brazil.
