Brazilian midfielder Fred has missed the national team’s final training session in London this Friday afternoon.

The 25-year-old, who’s set to join Manchester United from Shakhtar Donetsk in a €55m deal, picked up an ankle injury in training yesterday.

Website Globo Esporte now reports that the player is unlikely to take part in Brazil’s friendly against Austria, which will be played in Vienna on Sunday as their last match before the World Cup.

Fred’s ankle is reportedly better than it was yesterday, but the player is still be taken care by the physio team. The national team is waiting to decide if he’ll need examinations or a treatment plan.

Globo Esporte claims that it’s still to early to make any long term predictions, so it’s still impossible to know if Fred’s participation in the World Cup would be at risk.

With such a short time until Sunday’s match, it’s safe to predict that Tite won’t risk making the injury worse just because of a friendly.
