There’s now another source backing up claims that Bernard is set to join Everton.
The claim first appeared in England, via the Daily Mail, and was then covered in Italy. The reason for Italian interest is that Bernard was considered close to signing for AC Milan.
For several days the Italian media have been reporting on Milan edging towards signing the player on a free transfer. Having not renewed his contract with Shakhtar Donetsk, the Brazilian has been free to choose his next destination.
That’s led to a battle on wages and signing on fee, and Brazil’s Globo Esporte, a major source in the country, says Everton’s offer is ‘superior’ to anything coming from elsewhere.
Globo say they’ve had the information confirmed to them.
It’s reported Bernard will sign a four year contract with Everton and receive €6m per season in wages at the Premier League club.
An announcement on the transfer is expected soon.
