Barcelona have just raised their bid for Philippe Coutinho, according to reports from Brazil. Goal claims the Catalan side are sending Liverpool a new offer of €130m, which includes performance bonuses.
The same source had previously claimed a €120m bid, with Barcelona then planning to announce the agreement ‘in a few hours’, as the player’s representatives were already in the Spanish city.
That report was made on August 8th, but apparently Liverpool’s rejection was unexpected.
So, despite the claims not turning out as predicted last time, the same people are back with more.
It’s claimed that despite Liverpool being tough in negotiations, Barcelona are still very confident they can sign the Brazilian. They hoped to present Coutinho alongside Paulinho, with a deal agreed for the former Tottenham player.
Both players are clients of agent Giuliano Bertolucci, which will surely have been convenient.
A report on Wednesday from Mundo Deportivo claimed Coutinho is willing to ‘sit in the stands all season’ rather than play for Liverpool again. This possibility hasn’t been reported by the Brazilian press, who insist that Coutinho is doing his best to remain professional.
