After announcing he was leaving PSV on Wednesday, to take up a role with Everton, Marcel Brands gave a press conference.
Therefore, quotes from the Dutchman have spread out across media in the Netherlands, and although everyone will have heard the same words, there’s been different takes formed.
Whilst De Telegraaf believe Farhad Moshiri and Alisher Usmanov want Mino Raiola increasingly involved, AD quote Brands as saying: “Mino wants to stay away from it as much as possible. He is above all a good friend of mine, ever since my RKC time.”
That could be something to work out down the line, and Brands had some other, really interesting quotes published by AD: “Everton agrees that changing trainers in recent years has ensured a coming and going of players.
“The squad still counts 38 men, although 14 players have already been leased. As Director of Football I have to break that ad hoc policy. I have explained to the big boss (Moshiri) how I am used to working. I like to get involved everywhere. From scouting to youth training to what the kits look like.”
Maybe he’s seen Everton’s latest effort?
Brands isn’t going to let a much bigger budget, compared to what he had at PSV, be wasted: “I was raised with the idea: the larger amounts are, the more responsibility that entails. Then you can only make fewer mistakes.”
Brands starts on June 1st, and AD say that until that date he’s working to get as much done for PSV as possible.
