Sent on loan to Torino last summer for the season, Leicester City’s Dennis Praet earned himself rave reviews in Italy when he was fit enough to play.

That’s why Ivan Juric would ideally like to keep the Belgian around, but his injury record has placed some doubt in the Serie A side as to whether paying the pre-agreed €15m was worth it.

In the meantime, other clubs, like Napoli, have come sniffing around for a potential bargain, but a lot will depend on Leicester themselves.

The midfielder is still contracted to the Foxes until 2024, meaning a new loan could be on the cards, but his agent, Martin Riha, still doesn’t know what will happen.

Speaking to Area Napoli, the representative was rather candid when it came to the Leicester player’s future.

He said: “The question is very simple: Torino had an option to buy him and didn’t exercise it. Right now, we have to wait and see what happens. Serie A has just ended… We are still in contact with Torino, but we have to wait and, of course, we have to understand what Leicester want to do.

“We have registered interest from some teams, from Torino and also from other Italian clubs. In the past, we have been in contact with Napoli, but now, honestly, I cannot say what will happen in the future of Dennis. Everything could speed up in a few days or weeks, because the boy wants to know where he will have to start pre-season: it’s a very important step to find a solution in view of next season.”

Riha then went on to say that Praet ‘would love to stay’ in Serie A if he could, because his family are happy in Italy, but it all depends on Leicester.

He added: “We don’t know what the English club wants to do and we would like to know what to expect for the new season.”

Praet made 24 appearances in all competitions for Torino, scoring two goals and assisting another two.
