Bournemouth are once again interested in a move for Bologna defender Jhon Lucumí but could face competition from Manchester United.

That’s according to the Colombian edition of AS, who say it is almost impossible that the defender will remain at Bologna moving forwards.

They explain that the Italian club are already looking for a left-footed defender to replace Lucumí, with Bournemouth in the background and keen on him again and Manchester United also interested.

Both sides showed interest in the past, indeed Bournemouth, tried to sign him before he moved to Italy but failed on that front. He’s since impressed in Serie A, but Bournemouth haven’t given up and will go after him once again.

They need to find a replacement for Lloyd Kelly, who is going to join Newcastle United on a free transfer, and Lucumí is the man they’re eyeing up.

AS say the Cherries, Manchester United, Napoli and AC Milan are hoping to present an offer for the Colombian to Bologna, who are happy to sell this summer for the right price, which is likely to be considerably higher than the €8m they paid for 80% of him in August 2022.

The minimum they’ll accept is €18m, although it’s anticipated that figure will continue to go up, particularly if Premier League sides are involved. For now, the Italian sides are waiting for proposals to arrive.

Any deal is not expected to take place until after the Copa América, with Lucumí making it clear his focus is on that tournament for now.
