Southampton have had a bid accepted for Rennes defender Loïc Badé but face competition from Bournemouth for his signature.
That’s according to L’Equipe and journalist Marc Mechenoua, who provide updates on the battle for the centre-back today.
We covered a report earlier that stated Southampton had made a bid for the 22-year-old and talks were continuing with Rennes over a possible deal.
L’Equipe now say those talks have progressed well to the point the Premier League club have ‘reached an agreement’ with the Breton club for a loan deal.
They say the Saints have proposed a year-long loan deal with a €14m purchase option but a deal is yet to be concluded as the youngster is yet to make a decision about his future.
Southampton are waiting for an answer and in the meantime, rivals Bournemouth have made a bid for the player as well.
Mechenoua reports that the Cherries, alongside two Bundesliga clubs, have also shown ‘concrete interest’ in the defender. There is no indication as to whether they have made a bid, just that they’ve shown interest.
That would suggest Southampton are ahead of Bournemouth at this moment in time, although there is time for that to change as the player is yet to make a decision about his future.
Comme révélé par @B_Quarez Southampton aimerait recruter Loïc Badé en prêt avec option d’achat. Bournemouth et deux autres clubs de Bundesliga ont aussi montré des intérêts concrets. #mercato @GoalFrance
