Despite reports emerging on Wednesday that Arsenal were not in active talks with Shakhtar regarding the transfer of Mykhaylo Mudryk, claims from Italy suggest different.

They comes from Rudy Galetti, who is more than happy to go against the grain with his information, following up on what he had to say on Tuesday about the transfer.

The journalist had explained that talks were ongoing between Arsenal and the Ukrainian club, and were working to reach an agreement for a figure od €25m + bonuses.

That appeared to have been dismissed by other journalists, but Galetti sticks to his guns on Wednesday and even addresses the other reports.

He says that ‘despite the last rumours, talks are on and ongoing with Shakhtar’ from Arsenal’s end, with the player reportedly ‘pushing for the move’.

The focus of the negotiations right now is ‘on the figure’, as the Ukrainian club ‘won’t make a discount’, and the Gunners are ‘willing to include a rich variable’, although what that could be isn’t made clear.

We’ll have to wait and see who ends up being right, but we could have a fun few last 24 hours or so of the transfer window here as journalists seem prepared to go head to head with their claims.
