Leicester City’s hopes of signing Club Brugge star Charles de Ketelaere this summer have been given a major boost after he revealed he would move to the Premier League.
The young striker is one of the hottest prospects in European football, having established himself as a key player for the Belgian side over the last year.
This season he has 17 goals and nine assists in 41 games in all competitions, the kind of numbers that have several sides around Europe standing up and taking notice.
Leicester are long-term admirers of the forward, who fits into their policy of signing younger players who can be developed for the future.
They’ve been linked regularly since the January transfer window when it was revealed they would match the player’s ambitions.
Since then, it’s been reported that the player is being ‘closely followed’ by the Foxes, who are said to be ‘charmed’ by what the 21-year-old has to offer.
And he’s now sent a big signal to Leicester that he’d be keen on the move, stating that the Premier League does interest him.
“I’m not desperate, in any case. A transfer is not necessarily this summer, even though I feel ready for a new adventure,” he told Het Laaste Nieuws.
“If it (a transfer) can be done now, why not? The Premier League is the highest you can go.
“That intensity too. In England, you become a better player.
“But I want to leave everything open. My girlfriend, Jozefien, must be able to continue her studies in dentistry in a good way.”
