Manchester United and Brentford are named in a growing tussle to sign Velez Sarsfield’s Christian Ordonez, but there is also increasing competition from Italian side Bologna.

This comes from Gazzetta dello Sport today, as the newspaper look at the 20-year-old’s situation.

The midfielder has a release clause of €10m in his current deal with the Argentine club, with Bologna looking to have a deferred payments deal in place to make a move possible.

With Manchester United and Brentford also said to be keen on the Argentina U20s player, the Italian side are in contact with Velez already and are looking to soon have a meeting with the club to quickly seal a move.

There is also interest from River Plate but Bologna have confidence. That is because they signed striker Santiago Castro from Velez in 2024 and believe those contacts can put them ahead of Manchester United, Brentford and others.

The youngster is a central midfielder by trade but can also play in defensive midfield.
