As far as loans go, Nottingham Forest’s decision to bring in Loïc Badé from Stade Rennais last summer was a bad one.

It quickly became clear that Steve Cooper had no trust in the defender, who never called him up to play and who eventually agreed to send him back to France.

Nottingham Forest waved goodbye to the 23-year-old in January, only to see him end up at Sevilla on loan, where he has since excelled, helping them knock out Manchester United in the Europa League, which he spoke about with L’Equipe over the weekend.

The former France U21 international is delighted with his decision to swap City Ground with Spain, and it’s clear he has no regrets about his decision to leave England.

In fact, he was asked about his time at Nottingham Forest by the French newspaper, who wanted to know how he would sum up his spell there.

He said: “Complicated… It’s not like I played and wasn’t good. But, in the end, I got something out of it, it was a blessing in disguise. I had a lot of determination in me to turn this season around.”

Since leaving the Premier League side, Badé has made 17 appearances for Sevilla, scoring two goals.
