Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is again a big story in the German media and again for all the wrong reasons. Failing to turn up for a pre-match meeting, Borussia Dortmund suspended the striker and he didn’t appear against Wolfsburg.
It’s not even the first time the player has been suspended this season and the 28 year old appears to be escaping any onset of maturity.
Recently, there were claims in the German media that Aubameyang had his father and brothers staying with him at Dortmund’s winter training camp in Spain. BVB let that situation go without punishment, even though some other players were left bemused.
Bild report Arsenal want the player. The German newspaper say, according to their own information, Arsenal are ‘hot’ on Aubameyang. Arsene Wenger wants the striker to replace Alexis Sanchez this month, according to the claims.
With 20 goals so far this season, and 40 last season, Aubameyang certainly brings goals, but there’s a reasonable danger he’d also bring Arsenal hassle.
With the footballer showing no signs of leaving his excesses and unprofessional behaviour behind him, Wenger will surely be aware a move would be a gamble.
Aubameyang could either thrive in the pressure of the Premier League and prove himself to be one of the world’s best players, or could completely capitulate and escape on a private jet.
