In case you’ve been living under a rock the past few months, Tahith Chong has been in talks with Inter in Italy about a possible move.

Many articles have been written on the subject, starting back in January when his agent met with the Serie A club to discuss a free transfer once his contract with Manchester United expired.

Nothing has been signed yet, but the Italian media have been fairly adamant the winger would not be renewing at Old Trafford and was likely to move to Italy.

Well, there’s been a rather huge U-turn over the past few hours, as AD in Holland claim all that can now be forgotten as Chong ‘will soon sign a new contract’ at United.

This is all coming from Stellar Group’s Erkan Alkan, who said: “There was a lot of interest, we talked to big clubs, but Manchester United came up with a good plan for Tahith. He likes to stay with the club that brought him from the Netherlands.”

AD explain there was a period where the player ‘did not seem to be planning to extend’ with the Premier League club, but both parties ‘still came to an agreement’ to keep him around the north of England for longer.

It remains to be seen what the details of said contract will be and what this ‘plan’ entails, but if it made Chong change his mind, it will likely include a wage rise and some first-team football promises.
