Spain’s El Confidencial are once again insisting Tottenham are keen to take Gareth Bale back to the club.
At the end of February, the Spanish source, which has proven to be good on Real Madrid exits, claimed intermediaries were at work in England and had informed the La Liga club of Tottenham’s interest in a deal.
In a Tuesday article Tottenham are once again mentioned as being keen to sign the Welshman, and there’s no suggestion it would be linked to a transfer of Harry Kane.
El Confidencial say there could be a big development on a potential transfer this evening. If Bale isn’t picked by Zinedine Zidane to play against PSG then the player’s agent will start seriously looking for a way out, according to the claims.
Jonathan Barnett’s ‘escape plan’ for Bale would involve finding the player a club where the manager will always count on him, something it’s assumed would be the case under Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham. The agent is already at work detailing plans for the next step in his client’s career.
But the problem on any transfer is Florentino Perez wanting around €100m, which is an unreasonable figure given Bale’s current status at Real Madrid.
Then there’s Bale’s Madrid level wages, something Spurs surely wouldn’t match.
