Whether Leeds United fans want him or not (and the media surrounding his current club think he’s pretty good), Jerry Mbakogu increasingly looks on his way to Leeds United.
Now back in training after prolonged knee issues, and fresh from seeing world renowned specialist Dr Ramon Cugat in Barcelona, Mbakogu is now Italian.
Tuttomercatoweb report the striker is ‘a new citizen of our country’.
That means he doesn’t need a work permit.
Born in Nigeria, Mbakogu has had an Italian career to do date, and has now formalised his life in the country, which will help him leave it.
In February, Carpi’s general manager Matteo Scali was quoted as saying: “There’s a gentleman agreement with Leeds for June.”
There’s been a whole series of other hints and, unless Leeds pull out, this one looks like it’s actually happening.
