Manolo Gabbiadini’s future was always going to be a big feature of Italy rumours during the January window.
Partly because that’s been the case since the former Napoli player arrived at Southampton, partly through the need of several Serie A clubs, and partly because it’s felt the Premier League club are now ready to consider the player’s exit.
Gabbiadini has been linked with almost half the clubs in Italy’s top flight, and now Calciomercato claim contact has been made.
Overnight, AC Milan sporting director Leonardo, a former football star himself, is said to have made contact with the player’s agent regarding a January transfer.
The chat between Leonardo and agent Silvio Pagliari is described as being exploratory, finding out the initial feeling towards a transfer.
It’s got to be considered likely that if Milan gave any indication they’d actually play Gabbiadini that he’d jump at the chance of a move to such a big Italian club.
