Portuguese side Benfica seem really close on the signing of Darwin Núñez from Almería, with the player set to be their most expensive transfer ever.
And even though newspaper Record brings a front page saying the move is one step away, Brighton & Hove Albion are still brought into the picture.
It’s said Benfica are paying €25m for the striker, and there are only a few details left so they can make the signing official.
Still, it’s said Brighton are ‘equally in force’, even though they ‘seem’ to have been outbid by the Eagles yesterday.
Back on Monday, newspaper O Jogo had said that Brighton offered the same €25m. So that makes it a little hard to know who to believe in now.
Still, given the confidence from the Portuguese press, it seems the Liga NOS side are really close on winning this race, so the Seagulls must improve their offer in case they really want the 21-year-old.
The Uruguayan star had 16 goals and three assists in 32 appearances for Almería this season.
