Sevilla, Director of Football Monchi, has confirmed the club will sell if they receive an ‘important offer’ from Chelsea for defender Jules Koundé.
The French centre back has been heavily linked with a move away from Sevilla again this summer, having established himself as one of the hottest prospects over the last two years.
Last year Manchester City were keen on his signature, but this time around, it is Chelsea showing all the interest, with it believed they have made advances to make a deal happen.
Several reports in Spain have indicated they already have a deal in place with the centre-back to move to Stamford Bridge but are yet to negotiate a transfer with Sevilla.
Indeed, the operation appears to have ground to a halt in recent weeks, with the Blues instead focusing on Romelu Lukakus’s return to the club.
A report from ABC Sevilla today backed up that notion, with Koundé’s agent telling telling the club to expect an offer from Chelsea, but suggesting that nothing was moving at the minute.
Now Monchi has backed that up, insisting there have been no bids yet, but they will be forced to accept if Chelsea or any other suitors make a big bid.
“Koundé is fine, he is calm, he arrived later because of the European Championship, but he is already 100 per cent involved with the team,” Diario de Sevilla report him saying.
“If we had played in Birmingham, he would have played. There is no concrete offer for him because there hasn’t been one. A lot of noise, but no real offer as of today. I don’t know what’s going to happen.
“I do say to everyone that this club has a business model that is not going to change. That is what has made us win ten titles and play 20 finals.
“When there is an important offer, we have to accept it because that will allow us to improve the team.”
