Arsenal have reportedly made an offer for Gabriel Barbosa, as known as Gabigol. The Gunners are one of the three clubs to have bid for him recently, according to ESPN Brasil.
The report says the offer pleases Gabriel, which is a very interesting sign for Arsenal. The 19-year-old has been approached by several European clubs in the past few years, but never seemed really interested in leaving Santos so young.
The other two clubs who are said to be officially interested are Fiorentina, who have made a €30m bid, and the Chinese side Hebei Fortune, who offered him £300k per week. But none of these possibilities are interesting for the player, since he wants to play for a top European club.
Last week, he told ESPN: “I have bids from big European clubs which please me, yes, but that’s with my parents, my agents. I’m happy at Santos. It will be sorted soon. Santos is my home, my place, we’ll have calm to decide it.”
Globo have recently made a list of U-20 top scorers from the world’s main leagues, including goals scored at cups and with the national team. Gabriel led it with 37 goals, followed by Delle Ali (34) and Breel Embolo (30).
ESPN also says that the Brexit could make the deal more difficult, since the rules for signings could be changing soon. However, they don’t have much detail on it, and since Gabigol doesn’t have an European passport, we can’t see any new issues in this case.
