A few days ago, a tidbit of information concerning Ben Arfa and Leicester City slipped under our radar, but, thankfully, we stumbled across it today.
Well-informed Paris Saint-Germain Twitter account Paris United are the ones providing the information, as they claim the forward wants a six-month loan away from the French capital during the second half of the season as he still has hopes of making the France squad.
Considering he wasn’t picked by Didier Deschamps for the 2016 Euros following his great season with Nice, it seems unlikely the national team manager would consider him this time around, especially since he is yet to play a minute of football this season.
Paris United make it clear the 30-year-old is currently in contact with Claude Puel, who has a huge soft spot from Ben Arfa, and they claim a return to the Premier League is something he’s ‘motivated about’.
Other than the Foxes, we can’t see any other club willing to take this gamble, and even Leicester City doing so would be surprising.
However, if it were to take place in the form of a loan, then the risk is greatly reduced.
The problem in all this is Ben Arfa’s agent, who is currently advising his client to forget about the idea of a loan away from Paris Saint-Germain, suggesting he just sits around for the remainder of the season, cashing in his hefty paycheque, as Didier Deschamps wouldn’t pick him even if he had six good months in the Premier League.
If this is true, then we know where Le Parisien got their information from two weeks ago.
