With 17 goals in 26 Premier League appearances this season, there’s no denying Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a very important player at Arsenal.
However, he’s also 30 and will have just one year left on his contract come the summer, so the Gunners have a big decision to make.
Do they give him a pay rise, tie him down for a few more years and, worst case scenario, potentially end up tied to a player like they have done with Mesut Özil, or do they simply accept that his best years are probably behind him instead of to come, and sell while they still can?
That is the (literal) million dollar question, with the other being how much can they get for him?
Bought from Borussia Dortmund for close to £60m, it’s fair to say his price isn’t that anymore.
Gazzetta dello Sport look at his situation on Monday, and explain that while Arsenal were reportedly asking for €50m in January (it was midway through an important season), that has since dropped, with a belief they could get around €35m for him.
That’s still quite a lot for a soon to be 31-year-old (yes, we know, he’s still 30 until he becomes 31) who has one season left on his deal, and with reports of Inter being interested if they were to lose Lautaro Martínez, such a price could be appealing, especially if they get the full €111m from his release clause.
