Christopher Nkunku is ‘promoting’ himself in the foreign media ahead of the summer amid interest from Manchester United and rivals Manchester City.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say that the French star, and teammate Dani Olmo, is sending out a clear message to his suitors ahead of the summer transfer window “our future is open as of the summer”.
The newspaper reported yesterday that Manchester United were one of the clubs interested in Nkunku, who could be signed for around €55m.
Manchester City were also thrown into the mix, with it claimed they are ‘keen’ on the Frenchman and his teammate Josko Gvardiol.
They pick up on that today and insist that while RB Leipzig don’t want to lose their star men, they ‘will be in demand in the summer’.
So far, no ‘financially strong club’ has ‘officially contacted’ Leipzig, but there is a feeling that the wheels are in motion.
That’s because both Olmo and Nkunku ‘have been promoting themselves’ via interviews in foreign newspapers.
Neither have a release clause in their current contracts, and SportBILD repeat the €55m value for Nkunku, as well as the fact that Manchester United and Manchester City ‘are keen on’ his signature.
Whether either club will pay such a price isn’t mentioned, and, as is made clear, there have been no official contacts between the two clubs as of yet.
Nkunku’s interviews are seen as him promoting himself to those interested parties, though, perhaps in the hope of convincing them to move this summer.
