Following Marcelo Bielsa’s success in Argentina and Chile, the South American press has always followed him in his next jobs.
Since the manager moved to Europe, there are always articles about how his teams are doing to go alongside quotes from people who worked with him and have nice stories to tell.
Now with Bielsa close to getting a promotion to the Premier League with Leeds United, there’s a big expectation to see the manager in the most prestigious league in the world.
Chilean outlet RedGol managed to get an interview with former rugby player and now pundit Christian Martin. He’s a correspondent for Fox Sports and is often consulted to speak about English football.
Martin was quite optimistic about Bielsa’s future at Elland Road, claiming the Leeds manager should soon be fighting against the big clubs in the Premier League.
“The truth is that Marcelo is loved everywhere he goes, because he’s very noble, he works a lot, here he went breaking the language and cultural barrier, but his team plays very well, he’s about to go up and after what happened last year, that the promotion escaped by very little, it’s a luxury what Leeds United give to have him.”
“The team plays very well and will go up to the Premier League, and I’m sure that Marcelo will go up and compete with the important teams. He’s a very competitive person, who works and studies a lot, surrounded by a very good coaching staff. I think Leeds will go up and be in a good position next year in the Premier League.”
Christian Martin has also recalled the good job Bielsa has been doing for years in every team he works at.
“He provokes a revolution everywhere, in Argentine football, Spanish to a certain extent, with the Argentine national team also, despite the 2002 World Cup, which was left as a negative legacy… Bielsa is a very noble, transparent, obsessive guy. The good thing is that he was able to win the hearts of the people of Leeds, who are a great England club of all time.”
