If there’s one thing history has shown over the past 10 years, it’s that Chelsea like a good foreign youngster as much as the next Premier League club, and perhaps even more.

Their scouting network is among the best in the world, and while they will have to cut down on the amount of outgoing loan deals they can do, it doesn’t mean they’ll stop looking for talent.

Not only have they raided Europe, they also tend to have a look at South America, with their eye currently set on Argentina.

We learn that from Foot Mercato on Wednesday evening, who reveal that Chelsea are among the clubs keeping tabs on the progress of Luciano Vera at River Plate.

The 18-year-old, who has featured multiple times for Argentina’s U17s, has yet to make it to his club’s first-team, but that hasn’t stopped him from ‘impressing’ a number of clubs.

It’s stated Chelsea, Lyon and Lazio ‘haven’t been left indifferent’ by the right-back’s talent, who would be an ‘affordable deal financially’ for his suitors.

That’s all they give us for now, but once César Azpilicueta leaves and Reece James takes over, the Englishman will need some viable competition to keep him on his toes.

Perhaps that’s where Vera comes into the picture?
