Ajax star Jurrien Timber is ‘definitely an option’ for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag this summer.
That’s according to analyst Marciano Vink, who has rubbished claims that the defender is ‘too young’ to play in the Premier League.
Timber has been the breakout star for Ajax this season, with a series of impressive performances pushing him among the highest-rated prospects in Europe.
He’s subsequently been linked with a big move this summer, and Manchester United appear to be at the front of the queue after Ten Hag’s arrival from Ajax.
Indeed, a report today stated that they are in ‘close contacts’ about a move with confidence growing that they can get a deal over the line.
Whether that happens remains to be seen, with Ajax likely to fight hard to keep their man and demand a big fee from Manchester United if he is to move.
Vink can see it happening, though, and has backed the defender to be a big hit at Old Trafford if he does.
“That boy is indispensable at the back of Ajax,” he told Ajax Life, relayed by Ajax Showtime.
“Timber has shown this season that he is always top when it matters, also, in the national team. There is no moment of which I say: that was very bad. He has achieved a constant high level.
“I am against making it compulsory to keep someone. Good is good. Timber is also very stable in his head; such a boy comes up everywhere, no matter which top club you put him. So if a nice offer comes in later on from a really nice club? Why not?
“I have no desire to follow the crowd and say: he is far too young to go to the Premier League. There are enough young players excelling in England nowadays.
“Timber is certainly an option for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, I think. Just like Antony. If Manchester United comes knocking, you’re not going to say: I’ll stay at Ajax for another year. Why would you?”
