According to a claim in the Spanish media, Real Madrid remain confident they can sign Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
The Belgian international has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants for quite some time, but previously it hasn’t really felt like he’s a genuine target.
AS report Courtois is Real Madrid’s preferred choice to sign in this transfer window with AS Roma’s Allison deemed to be too expensive at €70m and Manchester United’s David de Gea not thought to be an option any longer.
It’s claimed Real Madrid believe they can sign the Chelsea player for €40m and with the Belgian’s family still based in the Spanish capital a deal could be done with the Premier League club.
With Courtois’ contact with set to expire in 12 months, the London club could be pressured to sell the goalkeeper this summer. However, any talks will have to be done after the World Cup has finished.
Chelsea have reportedly been trying to get Courtois to extend his contract, but he’s clearly been wanting to keep his options open.
