As was reported on Wednesday evening, it appears Paris Saint-Germain have won the race to sign Achraf Hakimi from Inter.

After just one year, the defender will leave the Serie A club and head to the Ligue 1 runners up, with RMC Sport reporting he was merely waiting for the final details to be agreed upon before jetting off to undertake his medical.

However, Chelsea haven’t said their final word, according to the Italian media, but, despite the Blues’ last attempt, do believe a deal with Paris Saint-Germain is the likeliest outcome.

Corriere dello Sport are a bit more optimistic than their French counterparts, stating the Blues are ‘still in the running’ following the addition of Alonso in the deal, especially as Leonardo has yet to meet the €70m asking price, which could potentially be done in a €65m + €5m in bonuses.

The most important thing against Chelsea, however, is the fact ‘there is no agreement between Hakimi and the English’, which remains a rather large obstacle in getting a transfer done.

Should the Morocco international head to Paris, there is a fear the Blues won’t be ‘malleable’ when it comes to Inter wanting to sign Marcos Alonso, who remains a target of Simone Inzaghi’s.

It’s a complicated deal, and one that hasn’t quite reached its crescendo, but all signs point towards Chelsea missing out on Hakimi and the right-back teaming up with Kylian Mbappé and co. in the French capital.
