Arsenal are interested in a move for Bayern Munich defender Jérôme Boateng, but the German is not considered a priority at present.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who have their own information on the Gunners reported interest in the Bayern man.
Earlier this month we brought you a report from Foot Mercato that stated Arsenal were keen on Boateng as they looked to improve their defence this summer.
According to the report they had tried to sign him in January but failed and were now looking at a possible move in the summer instead.
Well, Sky Germany have now covered the rumours, and while they don’t confirm that Arsenal made a move in January, they do say that they are in contact with Boateng’s representatives about a potential move.
However, the 31-year-old is not considered a priority at this moment in time because Mikel Arteta is said to prefer a younger, faster defender if Arsenal can get one.
The report specifically names Jonathan Tah, aged 24, and Dayot Upamecano, aged 21, as the Spaniard’s preferred signings.
Of course, both players have been linked with a move to the Emirates before now, so that will come as a surprise to nobody.
It does, however, seem that Arsenal are building a list of targets for the summer and, at this moment in time at least, Boateng is only making third place at best.
