From Belgium: Tottenham star ‘doesn’t want to extend’, can join ‘top European club’

 

Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad have what we could loosely call a transferometer (see below) in their Thursday edition. There’s a whole list of Belgium players and they’re rated from a transfer being pretty much nailed on, to probably staying where they are.

Most of the placements make sense. For example, Youri Tielemans is in the moving section, whereas Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele are in the section of players considered very unlikely to change clubs this summer.

However, Tony Alderweireld is in the red section, meaning a transfer is very possible. He’ll leave if presented with a good opportunity.

Het Nieuwsblad say Alderweireld: ‘Doesn’t want to extend at Tottenham because he can take another step towards a top European club.’

And the Belgian media are usually so nice to Tottenham.

Alderweireld has a Spurs contract lasting until 2020, when it ends he’ll be 31 years of age. Tottenham hold a lot of power here, and it’s got to be doubtful that Alderweireld is itching to leave.
