There seems to be a lot of bitchiness around Europe this week about transfers. The Madrid press are having a meltdown over Paul Pogba, and now Bayern Munich’s Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has had a snipe at Leroy Sane’s potential move to Manchester City.
Bild quote the Bayern Munich chief as saying: “A young player must decide whether he wants to plan his career financially or sportingly.”
Rummenigge then went on to say that young players need continuity in their career, and to keep playing the game.
Bild are taking this as a direct swipe at the Sane to Manchester City transfer, which they say ‘looks certain’, and they headline the piece to reflect Sane’s choice between money or his career.
Bayern Munich have in the past few years signed Kingsley Coman, Joshua Kimmich, Xherdan Shaqiri, Juan Bernat, Sebastian Rode, Mario Gotze, Jan Kirchoff and several other players as youngsters, and they’ve not all enjoyed game time.
Rummenigge is obviously speaking from experience.
