Tyrell Malacia’s start at Manchester United is really gaining big praise from the Dutch media.
On Monday morning, the fullback’s appearance against Arsenal was highlighted by De Telegraaf’s Kickoff podcast. There they complimented him for doing a good job to stop Bukayo Saka in that game.
But more than the win against Arsenal, Malacia had already been doing well in the other matches he had started, against Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City, with Manchester United winning of all them.
So as the 23-year-old was a subject on ESPN NL, pundits have been claiming that he should soon be a starter with the national team.
“If he continues this and remains a base player at United, he will be very, very, very close to being the first left-back of the Dutch national team,” Perez told ESPN (via Voetbal Primeur).
“All the way in a three-man defence… He is very active and willing. Without a doubt, he is United’s bargain of the century.
“If Malacia continues to play like this, it will be hard to ignore him.”
Following the potential shown at Feyenoord, Malacia had already made five appearances for the Dutch national team, but stayed on the bench in most games, and still fights for a position. Now after stealing the places of Alex Telles and Luke Shaw at Manchester United, it seems he could do the same at international level.
