With the end of the season coming, it’s time for Fiorentina to start deciding the future of the players they have on loan.

As written by Corriere Fiorentino (via Firenze Viola) on Friday, one of these players is Aston Villa owned Carlos Sanchez, who the Serie A side will try to sign permanently.

Sanchez has been on loan from Aston Villa since the start of the season, and despite arriving in Italy as a midfielder, manager Paulo Sousa has turned the 31-year-old into a right-back, the article says.

Fiorentina have reportedly paid €250k for the loan deal and now would spend other €2.75m, about £2.5m, for a permanent transfer. This price would activate the buying option agreed between the clubs last summer.

Sanchez signed for Aston Villa from Elche CF in 2014, but injury restricted the player’s involvement last season and it was no surprise to see him after the club’s relegation. Carlos Sanchez has spoken more than once about his happiness in Florence and it seems he’d rather stay there than play for Steve Bruce in the Championship.
