It’s been a week since the 2021 summer transfer window closed, but Barcelona have already put in a plan in place to bolster their squad next year.
On September 1st, Catalan media reported the La Liga side ‘will work’ to sign RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo in 2022.
Mundo Deportivo have a report on the 23-year-old, titled: ‘Olmo, another international on Barca’s radar’.
Barca looked at the option of signing the midfielder on deadline day, but the ‘operation ended up being unfeasible’.
It’s claimed the intention of Barcelona’s sporting leaders is to address their former youth player’s signing for next season.
The Camp Nou side’s sporting management will soon ‘begin to negotiate’ with both the Bundesliga side and the Spaniard.
Mundo say there’s a ‘first meeting’ scheduled to continue talks and also find the best way for the Spaniard to arrive at Barcelona.
Ronald Koeman’s side would ‘love to see’ Olmo’s signing closed in January, but Leipzig are reluctant to let one of their important men leave midway through the season.
Mundo are of the belief the German side will be open to negotiate Olmo’s sale at the end of this campaign, when he will have two years left on his contract.
