Antoine Griezmann’s future at Atletico Madrid beyond this season remains uncertain as the forward continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.
According t Spanish newspaper Marca, the ‘heavyweights’ in Camp Nou’s dressing room are aware the former Real Sociedad attacker will become their star signing in the summer transfer window. The same report suggests there are many factors to indicate that Greizmann will end up at Barcelona.
The La Liga winners’ top officials have already discussed about the contract with the player’s sister, Maud, who has been representing him. Their players, Luis Suarez and Samuel Umtiti have been publicly discussing the possibility of having Griezmann at the club.
It’s not just their players commenting on the Atletico star. Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu earlier revealed he met the France international’s agent in October 2017, just like how he meets agents of other players.
Griezmann has a release clause of €100m, and given the relative straightforward nature of a signing, Ernesto Valverde’s side have ‘taken for granted’ the 27-year-old’s arrival.
The attacker has a chance to win silverware with his current employers if Atletico can defeat Marseille in this season’s Europa League final. Barcelona don’ want to say anything so that it jeopardises the deal or distracts Griezmann ahead of the big clash in Europe’s second tier club competition.
