Barcelona need to bring in a forward during the January window, after several injuries, and Sergio Aguero’s health-scare, left them short in the attacking department.
With Xavi Hernandez set to take over at the Camp Nou, the times when much can be blamed on Ronald Koeman will be long gone, and that puts president Joan Laporta under pressure to provide a competitive squad for his manager.
Saturday morning saw claims from the Catalan media that, on Friday, Laporta told a group of fans in Galicia to expect signings in the January window. That’s provided further encouragement for the media close to Barcelona, and multiple players are being linked.
Over at AS they have a very specific claim, stating the Blaugrana have ‘started contacts’ to sign Cedric Bakambu. His contract with Beijing Sinobo Guoan ends on January 1st, so he would be an immediate signing as the winter market opens.
Barcelona have attempted to sign Bakambu on multiple occasions before, and failed for various reasons. This time it doesn’t look like there’d be much in the way for the 30-year-old.
