Jonas Hector had a good campaign at the Euros for Germany, and the player was expected to be linked to a few clubs after the tournament.
Before the tournament, the 26-year-old was strongly linked to Liverpool, as it’s quite possible the Merseyside club will be looking to sign a left back this summer.
There have also been claims in the past couple of weeks that Tottenham want to sign the player, but that didn’t make too much sense as they’re very well covered at left back.
Yesterday, German newspaper Bild reported Barcelona have contacted Hector’s representatives, and are interested in completing a deal for €18m.
However, Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Barcelona have no interest in signing Jonas Hector. The club are trying to complete a deal for Paris-Saint Germain star Lucas Digne.
In fact, a senior official at Barcelona has also told Mundo Deportivo that they haven’t discussed the possibility of signing Hector in any of their meetings.
With Barcelona making it clear they’re uninterested, and Tottenham having little need, Liverpool’s route to signing the FC Koln player has just opened up.
