Ousmane Dembele should have been the biggest Barcelona news this week, but he’s been somewhat overshadowed by the drama between Lionel Messi and Eric Abidal.
The Frenchman has suffered a severe hamstring tear and it could see him miss the rest of the season. Due to a little used Spanish football regulation, Barca are able to sign a replacement for the player, as long as it’s confirmed he’ll be out of action for five months or longer.
Several potential signings have already been identified, with the Catalan sport media excited about what seems to be a whole new Barcelona transfer window.
Before any serious move can be made, it’s crucial to know how long medical professionals think Dembele will be out, because if he doesn’t hit that five month mark then all the rumours are useless.
The club have now announced Dembele will be travelling to Finland to undergo surgery. He’s set to be operated on next Tuesday, and Barcelona state that only after that will they communicate how long he’s expected to be out for.
