Claudio Bravo Mundo Deportivo August 18thClaudio Bravo had a great match for Barcelona last night in the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla. The Chilean goalkeeper is set to leave the club, and whilst there’s little doubt about that, the Catalan media now think Barcelona should be getting more money.

It’s increasingly clear that the one thing Marc-Andre ter Stegen has over Bravo right now is age, if it were the German who is 33 years old, then he’d likely be the one leaving the club.

Mundo Deportivo go into great detail in their Thursday newspaper to explain how ‘heroic’ Bravo saved a penalty: ‘Bravo, who came from a Copa America in which also showed his maximum skill on penalties, moved from side to side to decentralise Iborra. From right to left, first leaving a gap on one side and then the other, stretching and shaking his hands like the blades of a windmill. His dive repelling the ball will be remembered for a long time in the history of the Super Cup of Spain.’

The newspaper says that the €20m they believe Manchester City are paying, even €25m, is too little. Indeed they reckon there were voices at the Camp Nou last night saying he should be going for his clause of €42m. Madrid newspaper Marca reckon it’s only going to be €16m, plus bonuses.

If Ter Stegen throws in a clanger or two on his return from injury, and Bravo expectedly excels at Manchester City, there’s going to be some disgruntlement.
