Ronald Koeman hasn’t called Riqui Puig up for the Gamper Trophy match on Saturday against Elche.
That immediately started rumours in the Spanish media, and then RAC1 reported the manager has told Puig to find himself a new club before the window closes.
Cadena Ser have picked up on those claims, and they say the Dutchman doesn’t feel the 21-year-old fits into his playing system, prefers other options, and therefore it’s been decided it’s best for Puig to go elsewhere in search of minutes.
Having spoke to someone very close to the youngster, Cadena Ser say Puig has been left ‘disappointed’ and ‘surprised’ by Koeman’s stance. He didn’t expect such a development, because Barcelona had communicated to him that he’d be with the first team this season.
Puig now doesn’t feel that the trust the club have in him is replicated by the current manager.
Over at Sport they make clear the midfielder hasn’t wanted to go out on loan this window, and it wasn’t thought he’d have to.
Now it looks like the decision may be taken out of his hands.
In a separate article, Sport say Puig’s surprise is ‘monumental’ and he’s been left in a state of ‘shock’.
