Barcelona are starting their life beyond Lionel Messi, with the Argentina international moving to PSG this week.
The Catalan club have a good squad and as long as their new signings can be registered, the outlook for the future doesn’t look completely grim. They’re also looking to the longer term future, with AS reporting Barcelona are ‘one step away’ from a signing.
Emre Demir, a 17-year-old forward is the player in question, and AS say the Blaugrana have been following his development for some time.
Currently playing for Kayserispor in Turkey, Demir would cost the La Liga club around €2m. There’s said to be a five year contract on the table for the youngster.
Demir is the youngest goalscorer in the history of Turkey’s Super Lig.
Given his young age, Barcelona would not bring the player to Spain until he reaches 18-years-of-age, which will be in January. Even after then there’s a chance they’d prefer to see Demir develop further in Turkish football, perhaps at least until the end of the current season.
