Victor Valdes returning to Barcelona always had the chance of turning into a great big mess.
He didn’t leave the club on the best of terms as a player, and has been known to sometimes be a difficult personality to work with. However, he asked if he could take up a role, and Barcelona probably felt they couldn’t knock-back someone who had played so many games for them.
On Saturday, Valdes wasn’t in his position as coach of the Juvenil A team. Sport report that ‘everything indicates’ the former goalkeeper will be ‘notified of his dismissal’ at a meeting set to be held on Monday.
Since Valdes took up the role there’s been several problems, and it all came to a head during an argument with Patrick Kluivert. The Dutchman has a role overseeing the teams at La Masia and informed Valdes that his team had to play the same tactics as the rest, a strict 4-3-3 in the Barca style.
The Spaniard, predictably, didn’t like being told what to do.
Franc Artiga, current coach of Juvenil B, is the man expected to replace Valdes at this level of the Barcelona system.
