Barcelona aren’t very happy with AS Monaco, report Sport.
The Catalan newspaper go as far as to say Barca officials are ‘very upset’ with Monaco because of their attitude when looking to sign players from La Masia.
Having already signed Jordi Mboula on a free transfer, only paying training compensation when his Barcelona contract ended, Monaco are now sniffing around others at the club.
Agents are said to be at work, with the representatives of several players informing Barcelona officials Pep Segura and José Mari Bakero that Monaco are willing to sign youngsters.
The insinuation is the French principality club is contacting agents and offering a route out should youngsters run down their Barcelona contracts. This in turn is being used by agents to pressure the Catalan club during contract negotiations.
Sport call it ‘the siege of the youth team’ and Monaco are the latest in a long line of clubs to annoy Barcelona in this way.
Unless they want to go to the football authorities then there’s not a great deal Barca can do, but perhaps just getting the annoyance out there will be message enough to Monaco.
