Liverpool fans may remember that when the club was in talks with Barcelona over Philippe Coutinho, the Catalan media got a bit annoyed with the Reds.
The Premier League club had the temerity to get every last penny out of a move and would only do things on their terms. This led to all kinds of snipes being sent the way of Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, and some quite odd suggestions.
At one point it was claimed Barcelona could sign Naby Keita from under Liverpool’s noses, just to treat the Merseyside club a lesson.
So, given Klopp’s side wiped the floor with Barcelona in the Champions League this week, with both Keita and Coutinho playing, it was inevitable there’d be a few claims to cause irritation at Liverpool.
Mundo Deportivo have come up with one today. One of the newspaper’s senior journalists, has stated: ‘Andrew Robertson (25), left-back of Liverpool, has the level that the Barça technicians want. The problem is that, with a contract until 2024, he would cost more than €50m.’
And the rest.
If Barcelona thought it was hard getting Coutinho from Anfield then they’ll be in for a shock if they return for Robertson.
