David Beckham’s Inter Miami FC will start their first season in Major League Soccer from March 2020.
Mundo Deportivo claims the Manchester United legend ‘has the dream’ of signing the Barcelona star duo of Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi.
Those in charge at the Camp Nou are aware the striker is receptive to the proposal and Catalunya Radio reported the deal includes a ‘dizzying’ offer for four seasons. The striker, who will turn 33 next January, has a contract until 2021, but he is thinking of leaving next summer.
Inter Miami would prefer to have the Uruguayan at the start of the new season, but he has no plans to leave Barcelona midway through the campaign.
Mundo states Beckham is not just satisfied with trying to sign the former Liverpool star, he wants to persuade Messi as well.
El País had reported the Argentine can leave Barca as a free agent after this campaign and several clubs have been trying to sign him for next summer. Beckham wants to use Messi’s friendship with Suarez as a lever.
Earlier this week, Catalunya Radio reported Messi and his surroundings are aware of Beckham’s interest in signing the forward.
Mundo claims Barca plan to offer a new deal to Messi so that they can keep him at the club beyond 2021. Despite claims of a potential exit next summer, the Spanish champions believe their star will remain at the club at least until 2021.
Lionel Messi himself has given an interview to Sport, for today’s edition, and sounds as happy as can be at Barca, although he made a point of stressing he wants them to be competitive at the highest level.
