The front page of Sport claims Lautaro Martínez is the ‘favourite’ target for Barcelona next summer.
Within the report, it’s explained the La Liga winners’ goal is a midfielder, the Inter Milan star (without ruling out Neymar) and one between a centre-back or fullback.
Their idea is to bring in at least one player in each position and cover the majority of the cost by selling a few of their current players.
Ivan Rakitić and Arturo Vidal are expected to leave before the start of next season. The Blaugrana are planning to bet on a midfielder who is strong physically and tactically.
Sassuolo’s Stefano Sensi is on loan at Inter and is one of Barca’s main objectives for midfield.
For the attack, Martínez and PSV Eindhoven star Donyell Malen are the two names mentioned and the belief is either of the two would fit well at the Camp Nou. Any approach from Barcelona will see them face a problem: the price tag.
Sport claims Martínez will cost in excess of €100m and there’s doubts ‘with the price’. Therefore, Neymar is still on the horizon.
The report states everything’s still open, but their priority is to bring in a new No 9.
On the front page, Sport states Martínez is a ‘favourite’, yet there isn’t anything concrete within in the report to back it up. They only explain it’s a priority for them to strengthen that position.
