Sven Botman spent much of the January window being linked with a move to Newcastle United.
The Magpies made repeat attempts to sign the defender from Lille, but the French club were firm in their stance. They know there’s a good chance they can get the same money or more in the summer, so there was little reason to rush.
Liverpool had previously been linked with the Dutchman, and now Tottenham Hotspur have been pulled back into the picture.
Botman may well be tempted by a move to the Premier League, and once the winter market had closed, he gave his view of the situation: “Newcastle is working on a great project and I thought it would be fun to be a part of it. Especially if you look at where Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain once started.”
According to SportMediaSet, the ‘auction has started’ ahead of the next window, and Antonio Conte’s side will provide competition to AC Milan.
Tottenham ‘want’ the player, but there’s no indication on what efforts are being made by Spurs at this stage.
