It’s fair to say that this hasn’t been a very good week or so for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Fined for breaching Arsenal’s club rules, the player was then stripped of his captaincy on Tuesday by Mikel Arteta, which suggests his future at the club is up in the air.
It seems that Aubameyang could be heading for an early exit, with January the first chance for the Gunners to get rid if they so wish, and Barcelona are there waiting for him.
This is according to Sport, who explain that the Catalan club are looking for a forward, with Ferran Torres the man they are focusing on, but they also need a striker.
It’s said that while they had ‘asked about Timo Werner and were in negotiations to sign Edinson Cavani, a new option has been opened in the last few hours’, and that’s Arsenal’s Aubameyang.
He would allegedly ‘look favourably’ on ending up at the club, making it clear he ‘wants to leave and has put himself on the market in conditions that could be attractive given his enormous quality’.
They recall he has ‘already offered himself’ several times to them in the past, and this seems to be a new, unofficial way of doing it.
